A Sunday Letter from Ysabel
Hey friends,
Tonight my mind is spinning — not from confusion, but from clarity. Something happened earlier this week that brought up feelings I didn’t expect, and instead of avoiding them, I’m sitting with it, because I can feel there's a lesson here about boundaries, energy, and honoring the work you do.
Earlier this week, I realized how much of what we actually do can go unseen when we don't take the time to name and scope every role, task, and responsibility — and how that clarity protects both our energy and our time.
And then, like the universe confirming the lesson, I had a call with a creator who was in a previous cohort I worked with. She wanted to get my thoughts on her pricing — and when we broke down her deliverables, it became painfully clear why she was feeling burnt out:
She wasn't accounting for all the hours it was taking her to execute certain tasks.
She wasn't including all the small, necessary steps required to deliver her work.
She wasn't recognizing her leverage or proven results — just a month ago, her following had multiplied, but her rates hadn't caught up to reflect that growth.
She was underpaid and over-delivering.
When we scoped out every detail together, I helped her uncover that she should be charging nearly double her current rate — more fairly compensating her for the work she was already doing. Then, when she sent me her pitch for a new client, I noticed she was doing it again — underpricing herself. We broke down every single deliverable, and it became clear she should be charging 3–5x what she'd written. Once she implemented the new rate, her energy shifted completely. She finally felt more aligned with her contribution and the impact of her work.
On top of that, I gave her a clear strategy to work with clients who truly value her time and expertise, helping her focus on fewer clients while scaling her income and freeing energy to reinvest into her own brand — the work that can pay dividends long-term.
And honestly… it made me reflect on myself. A similar situation came up for me this week with a collaborator. I realized I was unintentionally playing ten different roles — influencer, strategist, creative director, editor, executor — without properly scoping the project or acknowledging the years of expertise I bring.
If I'd priced every element correctly, I would have been delivering thousands of dollars of uncompensated, unrecognized value. No wonder my mind is spinning — this week reminded me exactly where I still minimize my own contributions.
Here's the truth I'm walking away with: If you don't clearly name the value you bring, no one else will. Not because they don't appreciate you — but because they simply don't know.
So here's what I'm reminding myself (and maybe you need this too):
🌱 Get detailed.
🌱 Count everything.
🌱 Stand in your worth.
🌱 Work with people who honor it.
Because every time you say yes to an opportunity that doesn't value you… you're saying no to the ones that will.
Reflection Prompt:
Are you taking on roles or tasks without fully recognizing the scope of what you're offering — including all the hours, effort, and small steps it takes to get things done? How might clearly defining and valuing your contributions shift your energy, impact, and results?
Sometimes, the moments that make your mind spin — the ones that poke at old wounds or patterns — are exactly the moments that give you the clarity you've been asking for.
